Change Your Habits and Master Your Life edition by Leha Carpenter SelfHelp eBooks
When we decide we aren't getting what we want from our life we often make unsuccessful attempts to change by buying something new or trying to exert discipline over our actions or looking for our deeper motives. In this brief but valuable 20 page essay, Leha Carpenter emphasizes instead the crucial role that routine procedures play in setting up our decisions outside of our awareness and shaping our lives. She offers a small powerful set of tools for hacking into these procedures that shape us so we can steer ourselves more effectively. This is a great entry level introduction to the art of self-management. You can read it completely in a few minutes, do a quick inventory of the habits already driving you, choose a habit you want to add or redirect, pick the tool you want to try, and make a meaningful change, all with a very minimal investment in time. The procedures are perfectly general and compatible with whatever dietary, fitness, time management, or other program you might be trying to implement. The critical thing in making a meaningful change is to take a step, and this brief book offers you simple, general tools for doing just that.
For more on habits as a followup, check out Duhigg's "The Power of Habit" which expands on the concept of the centrality of habits and offers a perspective on how they affect different areas of life. Also for more tools and ideas for managing habits, look into Jeremy Dean's recent book "Making Habits, Breaking Habits."

Change Your Habits and Master Your Life edition by Leha Carpenter SelfHelp eBooks Reviews
I'm not one to make New Year's resolutions. I have always found that they don't work for me. All the statistics say they don't. This year feels different. This year I am excited. I have tools to help me out this time. This is the perfect time to tell people about a tool that I am using. So much of changing something is about changing habits and making new ones. I have read Leha Carpenter's book Change your habits and master your life. I feel inspired. It's a great book. It's simple and packed with information in 20 pages. I'm looking forward to a great 2013.
Very short but good read. I think it's a shame it forces you to review in order to finish the book. It's such a turn off.
